Brasilia, June 26 (IANS) Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva has cancelled his visit to Canada for the G20 summit due to heavy floods in northeastern Brazil, a government spokesman said Friday.

Lula visited the flood affected areas Thursday and found the disaster was more serious than estimated, so he cancelled his Canada trip to focus on the disaster management, the spokesman said.

New Delhi, April 9 (IANS) Delhi Metro chief E. Sreedharan, who underwent a bypass surgery Thursday, is recovering, doctors at the Apollo Hospital said here Friday.

"He gained consciousness this morning and is recuperating in the intensive care unit (ICU). We will be watching him for a week as is the procedure after a bypass surgery," senior cardiologist S.K Gupta told IANS.
