Toyota recalls 600000 Sienna minivans over rust problems

Toyota said Friday that it was recalling 600,000 Sienna minivans because of the problems with cable holding the spare car tire. This recall will add more problems for Toyota as 6 million vehicles are already under recall by the company.
The company will inspect the rust in the cable that holds the spar tire, however, the company does not have solution to the problem, Toyota said. Toyota further said that the problem affects Sienna models produced between 1998 and 2010, a car that has been sold in regions with cold climates.
According to the company, under the worst case scenario, the cable could snap that results in spare tire to fall onto the road behind the van.
In addition to the 600,000 vehicles sold in the U.S. market, the recall for verification also affects other 270,000 cars sold in Canada.
