Adobe stops development on Flash for iPhone

MAdobe stops development on flash for Apple iPhoneike Chambers, a manager for design at Adobe, posted on his blog saying that the company will not invest in more tools for creating Flash content for the iPhone.

The Apple iPhone currently does not run applications in Flash, but Adobe had created a tool that allows programs to convert the format accepted by the device. This feature was one of the most attractive Flash CS5, released last week. But last week, Apple changed the rules of development for iPhone and subsequently banned the use of tools for converting programs to run on.

Adobe will maintain the export tool for iPhone in the current CS5 but is not planning to spend more in the development and support, Chambers said. He warned developers that some of the applications built in flash will be removed soon.
The executive stressed that Adobe is committed to further strengthen ties with Google as both are working together to launch the Flash AIR 10.1 and 2.0 for Android.
