Facebook, Yahoo are the most popular sites: Google

Google, search engine, provided the listing of thousand most visited sites worldwide. Facebook, with 570 million page views and 540 million unique users per month, was the top the list. The Google own search engine was included in the list.

Yahoo, with 490 million users and 70 billion page views per month, was ranked second followed by Windows live (which includes Hotmail, for example) which received 370 million users and 39 million hits. Wikipedia and MSN were also part of the top five lists.

The list released by Google confirms the growing trend of Facebook. In March, the consultancy Hitwise found that the social network had passed Google itself in terms of number of hits in the United States.

The data was calculated based on DoubleClick Ad planner platform (ad system) which track access codes embedded in banners and sponsored links. Information was also used from Google Toolbar, Google Analytics data and other business metrics.
