Facebook blocks Apple iTunes Ping

Apple CEO announced iTunes 10 which comes with social networking entity called Ping in the event on September 1. Ping is able to connect to Facebook so that user can utilize profile of the social network forApple  iTunes ping. Ping users were able to user the features initially however they can’t any more.

The reporter Kara Swisher of All Things Digital blog, discovered the reason: Facebook blocked access to Facebook Ping Connect feature that allows external applications to access data from the social network. “Normally, this API access is open and does not require permission.” Facebook representative was quoted as saying by MacRumors.com. He further said that “That is, unless some entity wants to access it a lot. In that case, Facebook requires an agreement for reasons primarily centered on protection of Facebook user data and, of course, infrastructure impact.”.

Reports indicates that Apple and Facebook were negotiating about giving Facebook API access to Ping but they couldn’t reach to any agreement. Apple added the features regardless which triggered the Facebook to block the Ping entirely.  Apple has reportedly removed the feature from the iTunes.
