Strong tornado hits Mississippi killing 10 people
A devastating tornado on Saturday passed through the state of Mississippi, killing ten people including three children, and leaving a trail of destroyed houses, blocked roads and ripped roofs.
Strong winds reportedly uprooted the roofs of the houses in Yazoo County. The storms also crossed the northern Alabama, Georgia and other states on Sunday morning, uprooting trees and causing hailstorms.
Meteorologists said it was too early to determine whether the damage was caused by a single or multiple tornadoes tornado lasting shorter.
Strong spring storms and tornadoes killed five people in Choctaw County, including three children aged 3 months, 9 years and 14 years, four in Yazoo County and one in Holmes County, said Jeff Rent, a spokesman for the Agency Management Emergencies of Mississippi.
