Volcano Eruption in Iceland update-Airports in Europe resume flights
Europe aviation authority estimates that about half of the flights scheduled to operate throughout the day. The expectation indicates an improvement over the last five days due to Ash clouds over much of the Europe. but the European Commission announced this morning that the airspace is opening up slowly and cancellation of flight should extend until the end of this week. Since Thursday, there have been 95 thousand flights cancelled due to the ash clouds. Amidst of this development, the valcano in Iceland is spewing new ash that could again create problems for airspace.
Italy, Switzerland, France, Hungary and the Scandinavian countries have reopened their airports but there are still many flights cancelled at those airports . Airports also opened in Northern Ireland, Austria, Estonia and Turkey. The airspace should also reopen in Belgium and Denmark on Tuesday.
In Madrid, where the airspace is open from Monday, there are many cancellations, and dozens of buses were made available to take people to Paris, Brussels and Geneva. In UK, London airports will remain closed and will open on Wednesday.
