Volcano eruption in Iceland causes cancellation of more flights across Europe

For the third consecutive day, The airport across Europe remained closed due to ash clouds coming from Volcano in Iceland. According to AP, Air Space is closed in about 20 countries and some countries are planning to extend the closure until Monday. The shut down may cost as much as $1 billion, according to industry estimate.

According to Eurocontrol, the office of air traffic control in Europe, predicted about 16 thousand flights will be cancelled out of normal 22 thousand flight on Saturday.

Today, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, United Kingdom, Holland, Ireland, Denmark, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, Sweden, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and Serbia have restricted their air traffic due to volcano eruption in Iceland. Other countries like France, Germany and Italy have lifted partial ban on the airspace closure.

The latest country to announce restrictions was Spain, which confirmed today that seven airports in its territory are closed – following the Madrid Open.

    I only hope that the Lati or the Katia volcano do not go off. I would not want to see anything happen to the people who live in Iceland. They are people that respect the earth and use it to live on but do not abuse it.
