Earthquake hits Indian islands

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hit the north of the Andaman Islands in the Indian coast, around 13:50 (GMT) according to the Geological Survey of the United States.
The quake occurred in the same region that was hit by tsunami in 2004 however The Geological Survey of the United States ensures that there is no risk of a destructive wave.
There are no news of casualties or damage however the quake caused panic among residents of several islands north of the Andaman chain, and forced thousands of people to leave their homes.
